Holiday E-Cards for Jo'burg Child Welfare PDF Print E-mail

Choose from a variety of cards, personalize each one, and send to as many friends, family members and colleagues as you’d like! The more you buy, the cheaper each card becomes. A small payment processing fee is all that is deducted by the payment portal. For each card you buy you can see exactly how much is going to JCW to help us reach our target. If we are successful we’ll have raised enough money to feed for one whole month: 30 babies at Princess Alice Adoption Home, 90 children at Othandweni Family Care Centre and 220 children at Elton John Masibambisane Centre for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children.

Please visit www.jhbchildwelfarecards.co.za to view and purchase cards (or click on the link below). If you don’t want to purchase, please forward this link on to friends and family who might!

Debonairs - WTF advert PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator

Dear BCCSA - here is a copy of an email we have sent to the BCCSA

Good day

I am writing this letter in my own capacity as Kevin Banks and on behalf of some of our parent on www.babymania.co.za

The advert from Debonairs Pizza - saying WTF - What the Frikadels may be acceptable for the target generation - the teens and younger adults - it is not acceptable for young kids as we now have kids in our community who are doing this and it is mimicking swearing. This mimicry been shown in prime time for kids is showing that it is an acceptable norm to almost swear- now one may think that almost sweating is ok as you do not swear - it has however planted the seed in youngsters minds and there will certainly be progression towards swearing and speaking in a language that is neither cool or acceptable for toddlers. The advert clearly shows this as an acceptable norm and even slants a comical approach with the jesting of the ad - we believe the advert is unacceptable to younger viewers.

A link to the online discussion can be found here:

Splash - A Slife of Life PDF Print E-mail

Bridget is a mother of 9 children and has just been diagnosed acute myeloid leukaemia. She has written an online book, Splash A Slice of Life about her life. We are assisting Bridget with selling her online book in order to raise funds for her medical treatment. Bridget wrote the book under a pseudonym Amelia Keating.

She is a warm and loving person who is always quick to offer a hug when she sees you. She is amazing with names (perhaps because she has so many to remember at home) and is always so good at asking after people by name. When meeting her, she is quick to offer compliments and praise. She doesn't drive and has completed her doctorate in French. She loves her family beyond distraction and when there is a sports event or play that one of them is in, they all come to watch and support, even if they come in 2 cars! Despite her illness she is still so full of praise for other people and hasn't lost her great sense of humour. Peter, her husband and all the children are holding it together but just can't wait for their beloved wife and mum to recover.

We would like to assist Bridget in promoting her book. The book is about her life and is an amazing story. It can be purchased online for R120 fromwww.splash-thebook.blogspot.com.
